EVALUATION OF MACROSCOPIC RESIDUAL STRESSES BY NEUTRON DIFFRACTION IN 7449 ALUMINIUM ALLOY THICK PLATES
An un-expected variation of tensile and yield strength through the thickness in 7449T7651 (AA) have been found. Other tests developed have not shown any evidence that explain this un-expected variation. Therefore, in order to try to explain the residual stresses influence of the un-expected variation of the tensile and yield strength variation trough the thickness, it could be desirable to analyse the residual stresses profile for the 7449 AA in the following thermal treatments: T7651 (as received condition), T6(solution plus heating to 120ºC during 24 hours) and T10 (important over aged treatment: T7651 plus heating 160ºC during 8 hours)
