Anomalous spin susceptibility due to spin-orbit coupling
We propose to test the theoretical prediction that the c-axis spin susceptibility in a tetragonal metal depends on the relative orientation between an applied magnetic field in the a-b plane and a wave vector also in the a-b plane. The effect arises due to peculiarities of the spin-orbit coupling in a two-band metal, and can be measured using field-projected polarization analysis on a cold triple axis spectrometer equipped with a horizontal magnet.
