Temperature dependence of the spin dynamics in almost quantum critical YbNi4P2
The heavy-fermion compound YbNi4P2 is located close to a ferromagnetic quantum critical point on the ordered side with a Tc= 170 mK. Since only very few ferromagnetic quantum critical points are known, their study is of special interest. Additional interest in the compound stems from its crystal structure with Yb chains along the tetragonal c axis which might result in frustration (inter- versus intra-chain coupling). While thermodynamic properties revealed that the compound orders ferromagnetically, previous INS experiments only detected dynamic spin correlations at antiferromagnetic incommensurate positions. The aim of the present proposal is to study the spin dynamics in YbNi4P2 in more detail, especially its temperature dependence, to find the origin of the previously detected inelastic magnetic signal.
