Neutron Powder Diffraction on 4d4 La2BRuO6 (B= Zn, Mg) Double Perovskites
4d and 5d materials are of high recent interest due to a wide variety of expected exotic physical states owing to the combined effects of spin-orbit coupling and electronic correlations. One such prediction is excitonic magnetism in 4d4 double perovskites La2ZnRuO6 and La2MgRuO6. We propose to study these materials with neutron powder diffraction on beamline D1B at the ILL to learn more about the crystal structure of these materials, as well as to search for any signs of magnetic neutron scattering associated with long range magnetic order or short range correlations.
