Spin-Peierls transitions and magnetic ordering in KAgF3
Silver fluorides form an interesting material class due to the electronic similarities with the cuprates exhibiting amongst other phenomena high temperature superconductivity or spin-Peierls transitions. However, only very recently these materials become available in high quality and large volume. KAgF3 shows a one-dimensional electronic arrangement arising from the particular crystal structure. There are several anomalies in the magnetic susceptibility suggesting magnetic ordering and/or a spin-Peierls transition. In order to determine possibly very weak and F-based structural distortions and in order to determine the low-temperature magnetic structures we propose to combine high-flux and high-resolution neutron powder diffraction experiments on this material.
