Understanding the Dynamics of Hydroxyls inside Ge/Si Imogolite NanoTubes.
We want to use IN16B to follow the order to disorder transition of the orientation of the hydroxyls terminations of Ge/Si based imogolite nanotubes (INT) with controled inner diameter. The investigation of the origin of the flexibility of these bonds is an essential steps toward the understanding on the link between the INT structure and the control of the structural water layer at the inner surface (so called nanotube ice NI). We anticipate that the molecular structure of the NI, and its interaction with the --OH group termination is a key parameter to water diffusivity in this system.
