Self similar dynamics of ring polymers
From a topological point of view ring polymers are unique objects that in the high molecular weight limit are expected to form mass fractal conformation and self-similar dynamics. We have overcome the challenge to create PEO rings with molecular weights corresponding to 50 entanglement lengths (Mw=100 kg/mol). Based on our previous studies these rings should be very close to the mass fractal limit. These rings will allow for the first time to study their peculiar dynamics that a recent theory predicts in a self-consistent approach.
