Control of toroidal moments through time-dependent electric fields
Analyzing the controllability of toroidal moments and domains is challenging, as the required crossed electric and magnetic field prevent the investigation by neutron polarization analysis. To circumvent this drawback, one could exploit the non-stationary Maxwell equation that shows that the magnetic field can also be generated by varying the electric field in time. Hence, we propose to study the control of toroidal moments in LiFeSi2O6 through time-dependent electric fields and by using a stroboscopic method with our own time-resolved setup.
